French Creek Freddie, Concord Charlie, and Punxatawney Phil were pulled, observed and conjured on Feb. 2, unanimously predicting six more weeks of winter.
As lore has it, if the rodents see their shadows, Winter is going to continue for awhile, about six addition weeks. If the groundhogs do not see their shadows, if they are not frightened back into hibernation taking spring with them, Winter will end soon, in about two weeks.
The dire predictions were the result of a clear morning, plain and simple.
French Creek Freddie is SunLit Surf's favorite groundhog. Phil and Charlie have both let the celebration go to their heads while Freddie appears not to even know he is famous. Phil has lost his focus to fame: He even predicts Super Bowl winners. Charlie has gotten caught up in romance, eg. Concord Charlene, and he also dabbles in West Virginia State politics.
